In addition to his filmmaking, Chaplin wrote
the musical scores for most of his most popular films, such as
The Kid, City Lights, and The Great
Dictator, though he had no musical training. The theme music
for his last movie, The Countess of Hong Kong, was
released with vocals recorded by Chaplin’s neighbor, vocalist
Petula Clark -- and the song, "This Is My Song," was
one of the most popular singles of the year.
